Tennis Program
The Salt Lake Swimming & Tennis Club offers a wide variety of year-round tennis programs and lessons for players of all ages and abilities. From our Junior Development Tennis Program to our Adult League tennis, workouts, and socials, our tennis programming responds directly to our members’ interests and needs.
Tennis Lessons
The Club offers individualized instruction through private, semi-private, and group lessons taught by United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) certified tennis professionals. Lessons for all ages and ability levels may be scheduled with individual tennis professionals.
Tennis Facilities
The Club facility offers 16 hard-court tennis courts and 2 Classic Clay courts. Six courts are permanent indoor courts and 5 are in our seasonal indoor bubble.
Indoor courts 13-18, in the David L. Freed Tennis House, are available year-round. Outdoor courts 1-5 are bubbled from October until April for year-round use. Outdoor courts 6-12 are available from early spring until late fall, weather permitting. Courts 6 and 7 are Classic Clay courts.

Mike Trabert, Director of Tennis
USPTA Certified P-1 Professional
Salt Lake Swimming & Tennis Club’s Director of Tennis, is former Director of Tennis for Pebble Beach Company and former Director of Tennis at Carmel Valley Ranch. He is a USA High Performance coach and has over 30 years teaching experience. Trabert was 1999 United States Tennis Association (USPTA) Northern California Pro of the Year, and 1998 USTA Northern California Senior Player of the Year. He was nationally ranked from 1992-1998, ranking #5 in Men’s 35 Doubles in 1992 and #7 in Men’s 40 Doubles in 1998. Trabert is the owner/director of Trabert Tennis Camps. He also served as USPTA Regional Director Northern California-Monterey Bay.
Byron Boyd, Head Tennis Professional
USPTA Certified P-1 Professional
Salt Lake Swimming & Tennis Club’s Head Tennis Professional, moved from the Evert Academy in Boca Raton, Florida to take on the Head Tennis Professional position at the Salt Lake Swimming & Tennis Club. At the Evert Academy, Byron worked with juniors ranked in sectionals, nationals, and the International Tennis Federation (ITF). Prior to his work at the Evert Academy, Byron was Head Tennis Professional at Round Hill Country Club in Alamo, California, where he oversaw junior development from pee wee to nationally-ranked juniors. In Aiken, South Carolina, Byron was Head Professional at Houndslake Country Club, where he was in charge of all adult programming including USTA leagues, all men’s and women’s groups, clinics, and social activities. Byron began his professional career at Saddlebrook Resort, home of the famous Harry Hopman International Tennis Academy in Tampa, Florida.
